Abdominoplasty or tummy tuck, is designed to flatten the abdomen by removing excess fat and skin and tightening muscles of the abdominal wall. A scar is made along the lower abdominal skin fold and around the umbilicus. The procedure, which is done in an outpatent surgical setting, takes an hour and one-half. Patients may return to work in 2-4 weeks and resume more strenuous activity in 4-6 weeks.
