Facial Surgery performed by Dr. Lawrence

Eyelid Rejuvenation, or Blepharoplasty, removes the excess skin and fat around the eyes to restore eyelid shape and reduce puffiness.  The result is a sharper, kinder, and more relaxed look.   If performed to correct visual field defects, the upper eyelid surgery may be covered by insurance.  Incisions are usually made in the upper eyelid crease for an upper lid blepharoplasty.  For correction of lower eyelid aging, incisions may be made inside the eyelid to remove fat or just under the eyelashes for the lower eyelid surgery to remove skin as well. If all four eyelids are done the procedure takes about 1 ½ hours.  It may be performed under either local or general anesthesia in an outpatient setting. Possible side effects include temporary swelling, bruising and blurred vision.  Patients are generally able to read in 2 to 3 days and return to their activities in 5 to 7 days.  Contact lenses may be worn after 2 weeks.  This procedure may be combined with a browlift if a sagging forehead skin is contributing to the excess upper eyelid skin.
