Buttock Lift Atlanta

What is a Buttock Lift?

The buttocks may be lifted by excising and repositioning backside tissue with a Buttock Lift, also known as Gluteoplasty, or may be augmented by fat grafting with a “Brazilian Butt Lift.” Dr. Lawrence does not recommend the use of buttock implants.

A Buttock Lift (Gluteoplasty) is a procedure that lifts and tightens the skin of the buttocks. Excess skin is removed and the surrounding tissue repositioned to create a more youthful and pleasing body contour. Buttock Lift surgery is usually performed on those with large amounts of loose, hanging skin on the buttocks and back of the upper thighs. It may also improve the appearance of cellulite. Its goal is to return the body to a more normal appearance after loss of skin elasticity due to extreme weight loss or age-related changes. Atlanta plastic surgeon Dr. Lawrence will place the scars as inconspicuously as possible, so that they will be hidden underneath your chosen bathing suit style. Although they are permanent, scars will improve over time, continuing to flatten and fade for up to two years.

The “Brazilian Butt Lift.” adds volume to the buttocks using injections of the patient’s own fat to increase projection and create a lifting effect. Fat transfer is a natural buttock augmentation procedure that uses fat cells harvested from other areas of the body prepared carefully to reinsert in the buttocks. This results in a youthful, fuller, and lifted buttocks without the hard feel and risks of implants. As an added benefit, the removal of fat for transfer allows Dr. Lawrence to slim and sculpt other areas of your body for greater contouring. Successful fat transfer is dependent on the harvest technique in preserving the fat cell structure and Dr. Lawrence utilizes the water-assisted Body Jet for gentle and reliable fat transfer.

Most swelling should subside within the first 4 to 6 weeks, although your final result may not be fully realized until up to one year following your procedure. Your body contours should be permanently improved provided you do not lose or gain a significant amount of weight. However, age and gravity will eventually cause some loss of firmness.

You are advised not to sit for a week following either procedure. Most patients can return to work after 2 weeks, provided there is not a lot of extended sitting. Strenuous activity or extended should be avoided until at least 4 to 6 weeks have passed. It is important that your incisions are not subjected to excessive force, abrasion, or motion during this time.

Medications are given for your comfort during the surgical procedure. General anesthesia is given so that you will be asleep throughout the procedure.
